Kazhydromet issues warning for residents of Atyrau, Balkhash and Zhezkazgan

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has published a warning on its website for residents of Atyrau, Balkhash and Zhezkazgan.
The information concerns the air quality forecast for Tuesday.

“On 3 March, adverse meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Zhezkazgan and Balkhash, and at night in Atyrau,” the statement says.

Adverse meteorological conditions in the form of air pollution are a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
According to forecasters, Atyrau will see partly cloudy skies with no precipitation. Fog is expected at night and in the morning. During the day, there will be occasional dust storms. Southerly and southwesterly wind at 2–7 meters per second at night and 7–12 meters per second during the day, with gusts up to 15–18 meters per second. Air temperature at night will be −2…−4 °C, during the day +5…+7 °C.
In Zhezkazgan it will be partly cloudy, without precipitation. Southwesterly wind 3–8 meters per second. Air temperature at night −10…−12 °C, during the day from −1 to +1 °C.
In Balkhash it will be partly cloudy, with snow during the day. Wind speed 2–4 meters per second. Air temperature at night −10…−12 °C, during the day −3…−5 °C.
