Astana resident sells someone else’s car using photos
Tengrinews.kz — A 29-year-old man has been detained in Astana on suspicion of large-scale fraud, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Investigators found that the suspect took advantage of an acquaintance’s trust and photographed his Toyota Camry. He then used the photos to offer the car for sale to another acquaintance.
The vehicle was sold at a reduced price. However, the man did not tell the buyer that the car did not belong to him and that he had no right to dispose of it.
As a result, the owner of the Toyota Camry suffered losses totaling 11.5 million tenge. After the victim contacted police, the suspect was identified and detained. He is currently being held in a temporary detention facility.
A pre-trial investigation is underway.
Police are urging citizens to document vehicle transfers properly and comply with legal requirements. Even when dealing with acquaintances, people should not rely solely on verbal agreements, as this can create opportunities for fraud.
