Education becomes strategic priority: President on new Constitution
Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that education has received special attention in Kazakhstan’s Constitution for the first time. The Head of State stressed that the development of human capital, science and innovation is now enshrined in the Basic Law as a strategic priority, according to Akorda.
“This year’s August Conference is taking place amid large-scale reforms in our country. Together, we have successfully carried out profound transformations. Following the nationwide referendum held in March, a New People’s Constitution was adopted. The Basic Law, supported by society as a whole, entered into force on July 1. This is a historic turning point for our state,” Tokayev said at the plenary session of the National August Conference.
The Head of State emphasized that, for the first time, the country’s main document gives special attention to education, while the development of human capital, education, science and innovation has been enshrined as a strategic priority.
The President recalled that the first Kurultai election was held just a few days ago, with the final results announced yesterday, August 25.
“This major political event was organized at an unprecedentedly high level. The Central Election Commission carried out extensive work. Well-designed solutions, including artificial intelligence technologies, are being introduced into the electoral process, significantly improving the quality of its work,” the President said.
Tokayev noted that the election attracted strong interest from foreign observers. The international community recognized the election results, confirming that they fully complied with national legislation and all applicable requirements.
“Today, in accordance with Article 46 of the Constitution, I signed a decree convening the first session of the first convocation of the Kurultai on August 28. By then, the parties that entered the Kurultai must form their lists of deputies,” the Head of State added.
