Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-3-3) vs Man Utd, 2 changes from Athletic Club game
Arsenal take on Manchester United in their Premier League curtain-raiser at Old Trafford today.
The Gunners are unbeaten in their last five league meetings against the Red Devils and will aim to extend this streak.
Ahead of the game, manager Mikel Arteta could make a couple of changes to the starting line-up.
Formation: 4-3-3
Predicted Line-up:
David Raya has won the Premier League Golden Glove in the last two campaigns and will be aiming for the prize once more.
The Spaniard made some world-class saves in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in March and can anticipate to be busy again.
In front of him, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes should be assured starters in the heart of the Arsenal backline.
Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori started in the right and left-back positions in the 3-0 win over Athletic Club.
However, there could be a straight swap with Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly getting the nod.
Timber has had just one start after his return from injury. Similarly, Calafiori had a stop-start pre-season after a knee issue.
White and Lewis-Skelly were ever-present in the full-back roles in pre-season and should make the XI.
Further forward, Arteta has several straightforward choices to make. Martin Zubimendi is guaranteed to operate as the holding midfielder.
Declan Rice could interchange positions with the Spaniard, while Martin Odegaard will start as the most advanced of the midfield trio.
Bukayo Saka is a nailed-on starter on the right wing. Viktor Gyokeres was brilliant against Athletic with a splendid headed goal from a Zubimendi cross.
The Swede is poised to lead the attack despite Kai Havertz scoring a wonderful solo goal coming off the bench during the Emirates Cup.
The left wing is a position for debate. Noni Madueke outclassed Gabriel Martinelli with his 45-minute cameo off the bench last weekend.
Despite this, we won’t be surprised if Martinelli starts the game as Arteta may prefer his pace on the counter-attack at the beginning.
Madueke could be introduced at the interval if the former fails to impress.
