In July 2025, citizens of Kazakhstan will enjoy long weekends in celebration of one of the country’s major public holidays — Capital City Day, traditionally observed on July 6. The holiday commemorates the relocation of the capital from Almaty to Astana in 1998.
Each year, large-scale celebrations are held across the country, especially in Astana, with concerts, festivals, street fairs, and exhibitions.
How Kazakhstanis will rest for capital city day in 2025In 2025, July 6 falls on a Sunday. According to the law “On Holidays,” the day off is moved to Monday, July 7. This means there will be a three-day weekend from July 5 to July 7.5-day workweek:
July 5, 6, and 7 (Saturday–Monday) — days off.
6-day workweek:
July 5 (Saturday) — working day;
July 6 and 7 (Sunday and Monday) — days off.
Total days off in July 2025
For those with a 5-day workweek: 9 days off, 22 working days.
For those with a 6-day workweek: 5 days off, 26 working days.
