Central market in Ust-Kamenogorsk narrowly avoids major fire
According to the Emergency Situations Department (DES) of the East Kazakhstan Region, the emergency services received the fire alarm call in the middle of the night.
“Fire crews were promptly dispatched to the scene under an elevated response category. This decision was made due to the high risk of the fire spreading to neighboring retail pavilions,” the department’s press service stated.
Eyewitnesses reported that the source of the fire was in one of the containers used for storage and trade. It was there that the mattresses caught fire, and the flames could have easily spread to nearby pavilions.

According to rescuers, the situation on the site was considered extremely dangerous.
“The incident commander confirmed the high response category. The warehouses and containers here are very densely placed, creating a high risk of rapid fire spread. Thanks to the professionalism and coordinated work of the firefighters, the fire was contained within an area of about 50 square meters,” the regional DES emphasized.
The department also noted that the fire was fully extinguished, its spread was prevented, and there were no casualties. Specialists are now working to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess the material damage.
Earlier, a fire broke out on the territory of the Remizovka gardening cooperative, located in the Bostandyk district of Almaty.
