February brings surprises: forecasters update the weather outlook for Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz – February 2026 in Kazakhstan is expected to be warmer than usual, with a moderate amount of precipitation. This forecast was published by meteorologists.

According to the updated advisory forecast, in most of Kazakhstan the average air temperature will be 1–2 degrees above the climatic norm. Near-normal temperatures will persist in the southeast of the country.

Temperature pattern in February

In the first ten-day period of the month, a drop in air temperature is expected in the west and northwest of the country, including Aktobe Region. At night the temperature will fall to –23…–28 °C, during the day to –15…–23 °C. By the end of the first ten-day period the cold will weaken: at night to –10…–20 °C, during the day from 0 to –8 °C.

In the north, center and east of Kazakhstan, a brief warm spell is forecast. At night the temperature will rise from –15…–25 °C to –2…–10 °C, during the day from –5…–13 °C to +1…+4 °C. At the end of the ten-day period, cooling is expected again: at night down to –18…–28 °C, during the day to –13…–20 °C.

In the southwest, south and southeast of the country the air temperature will fluctuate. At night it will range from –5 to +5 °C, in some areas down to –11 °C, and in the north of Kyzylorda Region down to –18 °C; during the day, warming is expected from +3…+10 °C up to +8…+17 °C, followed by a drop to 0…+8 °C.

Where the coldest weather is expected

Overall, in February the coldest days in the west, north, center and east of the country are forecast in the first and second ten-day periods. At night the temperature may drop to –21…–30 °C, and in the mountain areas of the east to –35 °C. During the day, –13…–20 °C is expected.

At the same time, in the middle of the first ten-day period, as well as on some days of the second and third ten-day periods, daytime thaws are possible.

Precipitation and weather phenomena

In the southern half of the country during the month, nighttime temperatures will range from –5 to +5 °C, in places down to –15 °C, and daytime temperatures from 0…+10 °C up to +8…+17 °C.

In the northern part of Kazakhstan, precipitation is expected mainly in the form of snow. In the southwest and south, rain and wet snow are possible. Forecasters also warn of fog, icy conditions and strengthening winds. Blizzards are not ruled out in the northern regions.
