Early spring: mass blooming of snowdrops observed in southern Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz — Mass blooming of snowdrops has begun in Almaty. The first large fields of Galanthus have been reported by the Botanical Garden.
According to garden staff, the earliest buds appeared back in January. However, it is only now that the phase of mass flowering has started.

“Galanthus are blooming in the Botanic Garden! These fragile white flowers, better known as snowdrops, are rightfully considered a symbol of the coming spring. Every year we eagerly await their appearance — and now they are already cautiously peeking out from under last year’s leaves, reminding us that winter is coming to an end,” the statement says.

For the record, residents of Shymkent began to notice the first snowdrops as early as 10 February.
