Kazhydromet warns residents of Almaty and two other cities

Tengrinews.kz – Kazhydromet has published a warning on its website for residents of Almaty and other cities.
The information concerns the air quality forecast for the upcoming Thursday.

“On 19 February, adverse meteorological conditions are expected in the cities of Balkhash, Aktobe, and Almaty,” the statement says.

Adverse weather conditions in the form of air pollution are a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, light wind, fog, inversion) that promote the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of the atmosphere.
According to forecasters, in Almaty it will be partly cloudy, with no precipitation expected. At night, light fog is possible. A south-easterly wind shifting to south-westerly at 3–8 meters per second. Air temperature at night will be +3…+5 degrees Celsius, during the day +15…+17 degrees.
In Aktobe it will be mostly clear, without precipitation. An easterly wind at 7–12 meters per second. Air temperature at night -11…-13 degrees Celsius, during the day -6…-8 degrees.
In Balkhash, dry weather without precipitation is forecast. Wind speed 2–4 meters per second. Air temperature at night -1 degree Celsius, during the day +6…+8 degrees.
