Tengrinews.kz – The freestyle acrobatics team from Kazakhstan competed in the qualification round at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. One of the competitors was 16-year-old Asan Asylkhan, marking his Olympic debut.
Four Kazakh athletes participated in the event: Asan Asylkhan, Sherzod Khashirbayev, Dinmukhamed Raimkulov, and Roman Ivanov.
The best result came from Roman Ivanov, who finished 13th after two qualification rounds, just 5.3 points shy of the 12th place, which would have secured him a spot in the final.
Sherzod Khashirbayev, who won historic gold at the Asian Games last year with Ivanov, placed 16th, while junior world champion Raimkulov finished 19th.
Kazakhstan’s youngest participant at these Olympics, Asan Asylkhan, came in 18th.

"I started in sports when I was five years old. My grandmother brought me to it. Before that, my sister was involved in freestyle acrobatics. There were injuries along the way, but my family always supported me. I never broke down physically or mentally, because I have a big dream — to compete in the Olympic Games and win Olympic gold. This desire drives every athlete," Asylkhan shared with the NOC press service before his debut Games.

For the freestyle acrobatics team, the Olympics in Italy ended here. Today, speed skaters and short track competitors will also take the stage.
