Water Diplomacy Department established in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstan has established a Department of Water Diplomacy with reference to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

The new department will be responsible for developing and coordinating state policy in the field of water diplomacy.

The department will coordinate Kazakhstan's efforts regarding transboundary water resources, ranging from participation in international commissions to negotiating and concluding agreements with other nations.Daniyar Sharip has been appointed as Kazakhstan's chief water diplomat.

What is known about the Director of the Department of Water Diplomacy of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation

Daniyar Sharip was born in 1992 in the Almaty region. He graduated from the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with a degree in Hydrology and from Caspian University with a degree in Law.

He began his career in 2015 as an acting expert in the Department of Operation and Development of Water Facilities under the Committee for Water Resources of the Ministry of Agriculture. He later served as an expert and senior expert.

In 2019, he held the position of senior expert in the Transboundary Rivers Division of the Department of Transboundary Rivers at the Ministry of Agriculture.

From 2019 to 2023, he served as senior expert and subsequently head of the Transboundary Rivers Division of the Department of Transboundary Rivers at the Ministry of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources.

From 2023 to 2024, he was a chief inspector in the Government Apparatus.

From 2024 to the present, he served as Deputy Director and later Director of the Department of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
