A citizen of Kazakhstan received 125 years in prison in Greece: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided details

Tengrinews.kz — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on the situation regarding a Kazakh citizen currently imprisoned in Greece.
"Illegal human trafficking"
The Foreign Ministry reported that the Kazakh national was convicted by a Greek court under a statute covering the illegal transportation of migrants.
Under local law, this act is classified as a serious felony.

"Our diplomats in Greece are providing the citizen with all necessary consular and legal assistance within their jurisdiction. The Ministry is monitoring the situation," said Yerlan Zhetybayev, the department's official spokesperson.

She previously noted that her son had not informed anyone of his departure. She was later told he had flown to Turkey for work, before eventually receiving a call from him from a Greek prison. According to Kadyrova, her son responded to a job advertisement on Instagram promising a paid flight and work with tourists, but was subsequently allegedly drawn into smuggling illegal migrants. The woman maintains that her son was not the mastermind of the scheme, but was himself a victim of deception.
