Ministry of Transport issues reminder to Kazakhstanis during vacation season

Tengrinews.kz — At the height of the vacation season, the Ministry of Transport appealed to Kazakhstanis, urging them to exercise increased caution on the roads. The ministry reminded that traffic on highways traditionally increases in summer.
The ministry noted that in summer, the number of vehicles on national highways rises significantly, especially those traveling between regions and to vacation destinations. In this regard, drivers are advised to observe speed limits, not violate overtaking rules, not drive while tired and exercise increased caution at night and on the busiest sections of roads.
If there are children in the car, seat belts and child restraint systems must be used. The Ministry of Transport also reminded that most road accidents occur because of violations of traffic rules.
According to the ministry, such violations account for 91 percent of all road accidents. The most common cause is speeding. In second place is loss of control of the vehicle, followed by failure to keep a safe distance and ignoring road signs.
At the same time, the number of accidents on national highways has decreased. In the first half of 2026, the number of road accidents fell by 9 percent, from 1,507 to 1,371 cases. This is despite traffic on roads becoming significantly heavier. Over six months, 22.3 million vehicles traveled along highways, 37 percent more than a year earlier.
The ministry names average speed control as one of the reasons for the decline in accidents. It currently operates on toll roads with a total length of 2,300 kilometers.
According to the ministry, after its introduction, the number of accidents on these sections decreased by 17 percent.

“The Committee of Roads of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan urges all road users to comply with traffic rules. Remember, road safety depends on the responsibility of every driver,” the ministry noted.

Earlier, we wrote that the Almaty–Konaev highway remains the most popular route among Kazakh drivers. Since the beginning of the year, more than 4.3 million passages have been recorded on this section.
