Rain and intense heat: what the weather will be like in Kazakhstan on August 12

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet forecasters have shared the weather forecast for Kazakhstan for August 12. Several regions are expected to see rain, thunderstorms and strong winds, while intense heat will persist in the south and southwest of the country.

Akmola Region. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the east of the region at night and in the morning, while fog is forecast in the west and north. Northwesterly and northerly winds will gust up to 20 metres per second in some areas. Temperatures will range from +8°C to +13°C at night, reaching up to +16°C in the east, and +24°C to +29°C during the day.

Almaty Region. Brief rain and thunderstorms are expected in mountainous areas. Southwesterly and westerly winds will reach 9–14 metres per second, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second in some areas. Nighttime temperatures will range from +21°C to +26°C, dropping to +11°C to +16°C in the mountains. During the day, intense heat of +33°C to +38°C is expected across the region, rising to +41°C in the north, while mountainous areas will see +20°C to +25°C.

Zhetysu Region. Brief rain, thunderstorms and hail are expected in mountainous areas during the day. Northeasterly winds will reach 9–14 metres per second, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second near the Alakol Lakes. Nighttime temperatures will range from +16°C to +21°C, reaching up to +25°C in the east and around +11°C in the mountains. During the day, intense heat of +34°C to +39°C is expected, rising to +41°C in the north and east.

Turkestan Region. Brief rain and thunderstorms are expected in mountainous areas during the day. Northwesterly winds will reach 8–13 metres per second, with gusts of 15–20 metres per second in the west, north and mountainous areas. Temperatures will range from +22°C to +27°C at night, with around +16°C in the mountains. During the day, intense heat of +38°C to +43°C is forecast, while mountainous areas will see around +34°C.

West Kazakhstan Region. No precipitation is expected. Northerly and northwesterly winds will reach 9–14 metres per second. Nighttime temperatures will range from +14°C to +19°C, reaching up to +22°C in the west and south. During the day, intense heat of +30°C to +35°C is expected.

Atyrau Region. Light rain and thunderstorms are possible in the west, south and east of the region. Northeasterly winds will shift to southwesterly, reaching 7–12 metres per second. Temperatures will range from +20°C to +25°C at night, with around +17°C in the north. During the day, intense heat of +31°C to +36°C is expected.

Mangystau Region. Light rain and thunderstorms are forecast in the north and northwest, with fog possible in some areas at night and in the morning. Temperatures will range from +23°C to +28°C at night and +31°C to +36°C during the day, while intense heat of up to +40°C is expected in the south.

Aktobe Region. Rain, thunderstorms, hail and squalls are expected in the west and centre of the region during the day. Daytime temperatures will range from +27°C to +32°C, reaching up to +35°C in the south and west.

Kostanay Region. No precipitation is expected. Northwesterly and westerly winds will reach 9–14 metres per second. Nighttime temperatures will range from +8°C to +13°C, reaching up to +18°C in the south. During the day, temperatures will rise to +25°C to +30°C.

North Kazakhstan Region. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in some areas at night and in the morning, with fog also possible. Wind gusts may reach 25 metres per second. Temperatures will range from +10°C to +15°C at night and +24°C to +29°C during the day.

Karaganda Region. Light rain and thunderstorms are expected in some southern and eastern areas at night and in the morning. East Kazakhstan Region. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the west and north at night, and in the north, east and south during the day. Northeasterly winds will shift to northwesterly, reaching 9–14 metres per second. During the day, gusts of 15–20 metres per second are expected in the north, east and south, locally reaching 23 metres per second. Nighttime temperatures will range from +18°C to +23°C, with around +13°C in the north and east. During the day, intense heat of +34°C to +39°C is expected, while the north and east will see around +29°C.

Abai Region. Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the west, north and centre at night, and in the north, east and south during the day. Northeasterly winds will shift to northwesterly, reaching 9–14 metres per second. During the day, gusts of 15–20 metres per second are expected in the west, north and south, locally reaching 23 metres per second.
