Officials combined efforts to fight two wildfires east of Portland, Oregon, in the Columbia River Gorge on Wednesday, September 6. The Eagle Creek and Indian Creek fires have burned a combined 31,000 acres and spread 15 miles Tuesday, a news report said. Evacuation orders were in place in several towns in Multnomah County, and a portion of I-84 remained closed. The fire had spread into Washington on Tuesday. Oregon State Police said they identified a 15-year-old from Vancouver, Washington, as the person who started the Eagle Creek Fire with fireworks.
