Saudi Arabia has raised the ante in its battle with Iran by publicly committing to send ground troops to Syria. This latest move by the Saudis is aimed at drawing the US into a more direct involvement to confront Islamic State as well as the de facto alliance of Russia and Iran to keep Syrian President Bashar Al Assad in power. An agreement by major world powers to negotiate a cessation of hostilities in the next week does little to thwart Saudi Arabia's strategy.

Police: Grant County man dies in all-terrain vehicle crash

RENFROW, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a Grant County man has died in an all-terrain vehicle accident near Renfrow, which is northeast of Medford. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report says that 79-year-old Donald Fitch was driving an ATV in a wheat field sometime between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday when he lost control and struck a fence. Authorities say the vehicle landed on top of him. Fitch died at the scene.
