Police: Headquarters windows hit by gunshots, no one hurt

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — Authorities in Virginia say someone fired shots at the Newport News Police headquarters building, striking several windows, but no one was injured. Police say in a statement posted online that they received reports of gunshots near police headquarters about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and the building was damaged by several gunshots. Staffers were inside the building at the time, but police say no injuries were reported. Several windows were damaged by the gunfire. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

JACKSON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey's Six Flags Great Adventure theme park plans to open what it says will be the world's first interactive gaming coaster adventure. Riders of "Rage of the Gargoyles" will become virtual reality fighter jet pilots as they battle gargoyles. The 1,377-feet of plunging and turning track features virtual reality headsets and high-definition imagery. Riders can instantly lock on a moving target by moving their heads. The ride is scheduled to open on Sept. 24 at the amusement park in Jackson, New Jersey.

University: Dismiss lawsuit related to sexual assaults

(AP) — The University of Kansas is asking a judge to dismiss a lawsuit related to two alleged sexual assaults. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that (http://bit.ly/2aIU89A ) during a hearing Monday in Douglas County, university attorney Brian Fries argued the lawsuit didn't identify specific injuries caused by the university's actions, which makes their lawsuit unwarranted.

Iberville board approves contract with new superintendent
