Heavy rains from the storm were blamed for three deaths in Panama, and officials in Costa Rica ordered the evacuation of 4,000 people from its Caribbean coast. Motorcyclist death in Highway 101 crash snarls San Jose traffic

A motorcyclist riding south on Highway 101 near San Jose Wednesday crashed into the center median, catapulting the male rider over the guardrail and onto the northbound side of the highway where he was pronounced dead, police said. The accident, reported at 2:15 p.m. on Highway 101 north of the I-880 connector, closed down multiple lanes and was expected to cause traffic delays lasting well into the evening commute, said Officer Ross Lee, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol’s San Jose division.
