The Russell 2000 Index climbed 0.6% Wednesday to extend its win streak to a 14 sessions, the longest in over 20 years. The small-capitalization company tracker has soared 16% since the streak began, compared with the Dow Jones Industrial Average's gain of 6.4% over the same time. Official: elderly man dies in house fire

Jim DeSimone of the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services said the fire happened at a house early Wednesday afternoon. The victim was not immediately identified. DeSimone said the district attorney's office is involved in the investigation. State and local officials are also trying to determine the origin and cause of the fire at the house, which is located off Route 169.

Dow, S&P 500 end at third straight record; Nasdaq retreats

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended at records for a third consecutive session after modest gains Wednesday. The Russell 2000 index of small stocks rose for a 14th straight session to also end at a record. However, the Nasdaq Composite declined slightly, retreating from the all-time high set on Tuesday.
