Sometimes, things appear different from a distance. A Czech-Swedish journalist has recently raised hell in Sweden by portraying the Nordic country in a considerably unfavorable light. The Swedish media were quick to stigmatize the dissident journalist as a "spreader of Russian propaganda."

McDonald's Corp. is inviting bids for a significant stake in its Japan unit McDonald's Holdings Co. Japan Ltd, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the situation.

The fast-food company owns just under half of its Japanese unit and is looking to sell up to 33%, with bids due next week, the report said.

Numerous private-equity firms are considering bids, the report said.

Delta's stock climbs as revenue beats expectations

Shares of Delta Air Lines Inc. rose 0.7% in premarket trade Thursday, after the air carrier reported fourth-quarter total revenue that beat expectations and provided an upbeat outlook. Earnings fell to $622 million, or 84 cents a share, from $980 million, or $1.25 a share, in the same period a year ago.
