Carnival building first of seven reduced-emission cruise ship

Carnival Corp. said Wednesday that it has begun construction on the first of seven planned cruise ships that will run on liquified natural gas (LNG), a low-carbon fuel. The ships will run on LNG both in port and on the open sea, which will reduce exhaust emissions. The seven ships will be delivered between 2018 and 2022. Carnival shares are nearly down 0.1% in Wednesday trading, and up 28.5% for the year so far. The S&P 00 index is up 10.1% for 2017 to date.
