The lying-in-state ceremony of the late Oba Samuel Odulana, the Olubadan of Ibadan as part of the week-long burial programme witnessed an array of beautiful dressing complimenting the grand display of modernity and culture.

The aged monarch passed away on Tuesday, January 19 and as part of the burial programme, a lying-in-state ceremony was held at the House of Chiefs, Parliament building in the Ibadan area of Oyo state.

Although a traditional and foremost Yoruba monarch, the programme chronicled a blend between the cultural heritage the late king represents and modernity. A white shawl was conspicuously draped across the casket of the deceased. The persons that accompanied the casket into the building were also dressed in traditional attires. Members of the family of the late monarch were also gorgeously dressed.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi who gave an oratorical exaltation of Oba Odulana was dressed in white outfit alongside the members of the Oyo state House of Assembly who wore distinctive red caps

Although a burial ceremony, there was little moment for tears considering and in Yoruba’s perception, a fulfilled life.
