Monarchy battle: ‘Olukere of Ikere is a classless chief’, says rival Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti
– Squabbling between traditional rulers in Ekiti state is still ongoing.
– The Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti Oba Adejimi Adu has threatened to sue his rival the Olukere of Ikere, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin.
– The Ekiti state governor Ayodele Fayose has thus far failed to comment on the dispute.
In the latest round of an ongoing battle between the two men, first class traditional ruler, the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti Oba Adejimi Adu, has said he may sue the Olukere of Ikere, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin, to seek redress and finish their long struggle.

Olukere, has been engaged in a running battle with Ogoga over who is the legigitame king, which culminated in the tearing down of Oba Ganiyu’s billboard erected in the heart of Ikere last week.
While speaking to reporters on Friday about recent protests against the destruction of the billboard, which Olukere had blamed on governor Ayodele Fayose, Ogoga pleaded with local residents to eschew violence, saying that he will not tolerate such nonsense in his town.

The monarch went on to warn his rival against parading himself as a king, saying he remains a classless chief, whose job is to appease the gods.
“Olukere is being misled because none of his predecessors flexed their muscles at me. But if all alternative means of resolving this matter fail, then I shall go to court to seek redress, because I can’t allow this to continue,” he said.

Responding to the ongoing controversy, the Odolofin of Ikere kingdom Chief Ayodele Alonge, who spoke on behalf of Ogoga-in-Council, said Olukere should remain as a priest and continue to occupy number 44 in the chieftaincy hierarchy.
The governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Fayose has thus far failed to comment on the ongoing dispute between the traditional rulers.
