War on Boko Haram: President Buhari welcomes Central African support

Buhari is receiving a message from President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea.
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that his administration will partner with the eleven-member Economic Community of Central Africa States (ECCAS) to rid Nigeria and her neighbours of Boko Haram insurgency.
According to a statement made by Garba Shehu, the senior special assistant on media and publicity, Buhari spoke while receiving a message from President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea on Friday, February 12, at the state house in Abuja.
Buhari welcomed the effort to organize a joint meeting between ECCAS and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) with a view to coordinating their responses to the threat of terrorism in the Lake Chad Basin area.
He also commended his counterpart for bringing about the proposed summit and described the effort as very commendable.

The president noted that he was deeply touched by the commitment shown in Nigeria’s security by Equatorial Guinea and vowed to enhance security and bilateral relations between the two countries.
Juan Antonio Bibang Nchuchuma, the special envoy of the Equatorial Guinean president, who brought the message, stressed that his president was ready to help Nigeria in the war against corruption and terrorism by expanding and sharing security intelligence and information. He also asked for a meeting of the security chiefs from both countries.
Earlier this week, President Buhari had a joint briefing with his German counterpart, Joachim Guack.
In his speech, Buhari assured Nigerians that none of the 774 local government areas in the country is under the control of the Boko Haram sect.
