Fayose is accused of manipulating his own election using the military
The governor of Ekiti state Ayodele Fayose has been in the news of late. If the controversial governor is not criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari, he is being mentioned as a protagonist and the major beneficiary in the Ekiti gate scandal currently rocking the political landscape in his state.

Recently, a Peoples Democratic Party’s top operative in the state who became a turncoat had revealed how the PDP had manipulated the Ekiti governorship election in favour of Fayose. Fayose’s party has also been indicted for using the military to perpetuate election fraud leading to his victory in the election.
Tope Aluko, the whistle blower who called out Fayose is his former party man and ally
Those in the military who were in indicted in the election manipulation havesince been recommended for punishment. Mr. Tope Aluko, the whistle blower is also being investigated by the authorities.
The indictment of Aluko and the investigation of the military officers who participated in the Ekitigate have prompted some people to call for the arrest of the governor. Some have even urged the Ekiti state House of Assembly to begin impeachment process on the governor. It will be interesting to see how the saga will end.
One of those that have called for the arrest of the governor is Mr. Femi Falana, in a statement, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria called for the arrest of Fayose, saying that the governor rigged the June 21, 2014 Ekiti governorship election.

But Fayose and his supporters have dismissed the calls for his arrest as the ranting of political detractors.
Now the question remains: can Fayose be removed on the account of the alleged rigging of the election?
Should he be removed? What will be the implication of such removal?
