Hollywood actress Meryl Streep, regarded as “the best actress of her time”, has stunned the world with her recent response at a press conference at the ongoing Berlin International Film Festival.

On Thursday, February 11 she was asked about the diversity in the movie industry to which she responded saying “we are all Africans really”.
Issues about diversities in the film industry came up as a result of the jury for the festival having entirely White panelists, among other things.
This piqued interests across various circles, as a result an Egyptian reporter asked Meryl at the press conference if she understood films from North Africa and the Middle East to which she answered saying even though might not know a lot about those parts of the world she had played different characters in movies, characters representing people from diverse cultures.
She said: “I’ve played a lot of different people from a lot of different cultures.
“There is a core of humanity that travels right through every culture, and after all we’re all from Africa originally. Berliners, we’re all Africans really.”
The 66-year-old actress’ comment at the film festival soon became one of the biggest trends on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Meryl Louis Streep is a three-time Oscar award winner.
Though born in New Jersey, he is of Swiss, German and Irish ancestry.

She was the president of the international jury at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival which is currently taking place in the German capital.
The film festival runs from Thursday, February 11 to February 21.
