Premier league team boycotts league match
– Giwa FC will not honour future Premier League matches because of an alleged victimization
It is now clear that Nigeria Professional Football League side (NPFL), Giwa FC will not honour their week 14 match this Sunday against Wikki Tourists.
The club claimed that the League Management Company (LMC) which steers the Nigeria’s top flight football have been biased in their rulings and activities.
It would be recalled that Giwa FC’s week 13 game against Enugu Rangers in Jos was called off towards the end of the match due to the hosts’ fans unruling attitudes.
The LMC then ordered that the match should continue in Abuja from the minute it was stopped in Jos, but Giwa FC refused to show up for the game and three points and three goals was awarded to Enugu Rangers.

Giwa FC were also banished to the Ilorin Township Stadium where they would play their next three homes games coupled with some monetary fines.
The Jos based team have their NPFL week 14 tie today (Sunday) against Wikki Tourists in Ilorin, and they were expected to be in town on Saturday, but it has been confirmed that they won’t honour the match.

A club official who wants to be anonymous revealed that Giwa FC owner, Chris Giwa has ordered them not to travel for the game as they will also boycott their subsequent NPFL games.
“We thought our boss would instruct us to travel on Saturday, but he ordered us to remain in Jos.
“He said there was a court order that said the club should not honour our match with Enugu Rangers in Abuja, and he was angry with what transpired in which Rangers were given the three points,” the official said to NAIJ.com Sports.
It has been a tussle of war since last month when there was an order from a Jos court which nullify that September 2014 election where Amaju Pinnick emerged as the winner.
Chris Giwa felt cheated claiming that he had been elected in Abuja, and he has been fighting since then to date.
Under the rules governing the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), a team that fails to honour a match is expected to pay the sum of 10 million naira and if such team misses three consecutive games without any reasonable reason, such team would be expelled.
Giwa FC and FC Ifeanyi Ubah are the only privately owned football sides in the Nigeria premier League.
