 – Police in Rivers state have raided the hideout of kidnappers in Okrika town

– Some notorious kidnappers have been arrested following the timely raid

– The kidnappers have made confessions regarding their involvement in the kidnapping of Charity Ikirigo

– Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the abductors

Anti-kidnapping detectives from the Rivers state police command between 4am on Wednesday,April 27 and 5am on Thursday, April 28, stormed the hideouts of suspected notorious kidnappers  at Okrika town, and Abuloma where one Mitchell Tamuno a notorious kidnapping kingpin of Abam in Okirika Local Government Area and other five members his gang were arrested.

According to the Ahmad Muhammad, the Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO in a press statement said,”Their arrest was at the heels of an actionable information and they have confessed to be the gang responsible for the kidnapping one Miss Charity Ikirigo a 14 years old, a student Federal Government Girls College, Abuloma ,on the April 18,2016 and was rescued by Anti-Kidnapping Squad.

“Two AK 47 rifles and one hundred and seventy rounds of live ammunition were recovered from them.  Suspects also confessed to being behind several kidnappings in Abuloma and Okirika.”

Similarly, in less 24 hours, after the nabbing of Mitchell Tamuno that is on April 28 at about 5 am, the teams of policemen stormed the hideout of one Iyalla Appolos,at Azuboko Ama, off Abuloma road, Port Harcourt and arrested him.

 

Notorious kingpin of Kidnappers in Rivers state.

Iyalla Apollos is alleged to be  dangerous kidnapper leading seven man kidnapping syndicate that operates around Abuloma and environs.

“He was arrested on the basis of confession of another kingpin in detention. Two AK 47 rifles, one hundred and seventy rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and four magazines were recovered from him.”

The PPRO said the police have commenced investigation.

Meanwhile, the Abductors of Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, who was kidnapped earlier this week in Ogun state, have demanded a N200 million ransom for her release, Premium Times reports with reference to its security and family sources.

The unknown reportedly contacted the relatives on Friday, April 29, using the mobile phone number of Anisulowo, who also used to be Nigeria’s minister in the past.

The Ogun police commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, and several other top officers are said to have relocated closer to the area of abduction, in Ilaro, for the rescue operation.
