5-star WR Demetris Robertson commits to Cal
Five-star wide receiver Demetris Robertson has committed to Cal, the All-American announced during a news conference at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
Robertson, who visited Cal in October, had previously signed non-binding financial aid agreements with the Bears, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
Robertson also recorded 41 tackles, two interceptions and one pass breakup for a Raiders team that won an A Region 3A title.
“Demetris is an outstanding young man who wants to be challenged academically and believes that Cal is a great fit for him,” head coach Sonny Dykes said in a news release.
Robertson and Stovall, a four-star recruit who enrolled early and had seven catches for 128 yards in the spring game, are both game-changing playmakers with elite speed.
Other receivers expected to make the rotation include redshirt freshman Brandon Singleton, and juniors Jordan Veasy, Chad Hansen and Raymond Hudson.
Sophomore Chase Forrest and redshirt freshman Ross Bowers are the leading candidates to replace No. 1 NFL draft pick Jared Goff behind center.
