APGA raises alarm over ‘coup plot’
– The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has accused a group of trying to create infighting in the party
– The deputy national secretary of the party, Comrade Jerry Obasi has disassociated himself from the group and urged them to allow the national chairman of the party concentrate on his work
– Obasi describes the group as pressure group who are seeking relevance
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has raised alarm over an alleged plot by a group to destabilise the party.
The deputy national secretary of the party, Comrade Jerry Obasi, who identified the group as Rescue APGA, on Tuesday, May 3, said it was planning to destabilise the party by creating infighting.

According to Leadership, Obasi told journalist in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital that the party would not hesitate to sanction the perpetrators of such act.
He alleged that the group has been cloning phone numbers of some of its national officers to call for a meeting.
The party chieftain disassociated himself from the group and urged them to allow the national chairman of the party to concentrate on his work.
He said: I don’t know anything about the group called Rescue APGA and I advice them to refrain from their activities.
‘’There are more civilised ways to ventilate anger and not in this way. We will not tolerate any plan by any group to destroy our party.
‘’We have one APGA and it is our duty to protect it. All we need to do is to support the national chairman and members of the executive.”

He described the group as a pressure group who are seeking relevance.
Meanwhile, ahead of the May 21 national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, the battle for the soul of South-west PDP has pitched two governors in region against each other, The Nation newspaper is reporting.
Two parallel meetings will hold today, May 4 at the Akure, the Ondo State capital, and Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, to discuss its proposed national convention.
While the Akure meeting is at the instance of Ondo state governor Olusegun Mimiko, The Ijebu-Igbo meeting is convened by of Senator Buruji Kashamu (Ogun East) and Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose who is supporting the return of Senator Modu Sheriff as the party’s chairman.
