Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Mimiko said the party was drifting as a result of the “cacophony of voices” tearing the party apart. He said there was need for the party leaders to forge a common front in the interest of the Yoruba race and its place in the Nigerian equation.
Mr Mimiko explained that the challenges went beyond politics, noting that issues like the terror unleashed by the Fulani herdsmen on the people remained a rallying point for the party leaders.

He warned that the people of the south west were watching with keen interest and could pass a judgment with their votes if the party leaders failed to take the right course.
“If we make a mess of the PDP, the people can take a decision and from the ashes of the PDP and the APC, a new party can emerge and it will become their darling party of the people,” Mr. Mimiko cautioned. I and Fayose had some minor issues, we have resolved it in the interest of the Yoruba nation,” Mr Mimiko was quoted by Premium Times.

In his remarks, Mr. Fayose said there were issues left between him and Mr. Mimiko, blaming some of the misunderstanding on the writings in the media.
He said the party would need to forge ahead united in order to get the party out of the woods.
He said he was willing to support any interest that would meet the highest goals of the south west even if he would be adversely affected.
