Lightning win, takes 3-1 series lead on Islanders
The Tampa Bay Lightning again withstood an early push from the host New York Islanders and pulled out another big overtime victory.
Jason Garrison scored 1:34 into the extra period to give the Lightning a 2-1 victory over the Islanders on Friday night for a 3-1 series lead.
Garrison took a pass from Andrej Sustr and fired a slap shot from the right face-off circle past goalie Thomas Greiss.
“He’s proven he’s not a one-hit wonder,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said about Kucherov, who had 10 goals and 12 assists during the team’s run to the Stanley Cup Finals last year.
NHL players voted at the end of the regular season and the three finalists were designated Friday.
