Hikers urged to avoid muddy Adirondack High Peaks trails

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The state Department of Environmental Conservation is urging hikers to postpone trips to high-elevation Adirondack trails until mud dries up.

Trails in the higher elevations are still covered in slowly melting ice and are vulnerable to erosion as frost leaves the ground.
