He's Perhaps Not Their First Choice, But Top Civil Rights Groups Praise Supreme Court Nominee

WASHINGTON -- Two prominent civil rights organizations just released their evaluations of Supreme Court nominee Judge Merrick Garland’s record this week and agree that he’s highly qualified for the job, though both would like to hear more about his judicial philosophy.

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law each examined Garland’s philosophy and rulings on an array of constitutional and civil rights topics over his nearly two decades on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
