Exclusive: See what Uche Jombo, others were spotted doing in a lounge (photos)

On Friday, April 29, Nollywood actresses Uche Jombo-Rodriguez, Chika Chukwuka among others gathered at the official opening of DaVinci Fashion Lounge. The lounge also seized the opportunity to launch their monthly fashion platform ‘Dyvacity’ which is aimed at showcasing emerging celebrity designers in the country.

In an interview with NAIJ.COM, the CEO of the lounge Mrs Linda Dominguez opened up on she organized the fashion show which featured top Nigerian designers such as Rikaoto by Me, Nugo Clothing and Estella Couture.

How do you feel organizing this event?

I am the manager of this lounge and this lounge is a first of its kind because it is not just a place for relaxation but we cater for the entertainment industry such as modeling and much more. It is not all about coming to dance, so we decided to create a lounge for the fashion industry hoping this will encourage Nigerian youths in curbing unemployment in the country. Here designers can also create a platform where they get to network with other designers in the country.

How were you able to convince celebrity designer ‘Rekaoto By Me’ into this project?

Well, Rekaoto is one of Nigeria’s most celebrated designers and it was easy for me to get her on board because she is a fantastic person and she embraced the vision we are trying give birth to.

How will this project create unemployment to the Nigerian youths?

First it is who you know in the industry and if you do not anyone, it’s like you are struggling all alone. So we are hoping that, people will come here to make connections, networking. We are looking for a situation where by you come here meet people who are ready to book you for jobs that would help each individual develop his/her modelling, fashion and beauty career.

How do you intend to stand the test of time?

I believe we would because we are the first trying to promote the fashion industry in Nigeria, so we have no competition and we are hoping that the industry will also embrace the platform and use it to their advantage. Also I intend to make use of the fact that I have lived in the states to leverage in the Nigerian market and will also be able to have each designer cross over to the United States.
