Naij.com gathered that the mobbing of the alleged thief occurred on Friday, May 5, when some vigilant residents at 21 Road saw two suspects trying to steal a parked motorcycle in the afternoon.
The resident confronted the two suspects who tried to escape after realising their scheme had been uncovered.
Following a chase by the resident, one of the alleged thieves got away, but his companion was caught by angry residents who waylaid him along 203 Road, 2nd Avenue, close to the Festac police station.
The mob then vented their anger on the suspect by beating him with sticks, stones and anything they could lay their hands on.
However, the timely intervention of the police who came and took the suspect away saved him from further beating.
But some eyewitnesses at the scene said the suspect might not recover from his injuries which appeared fatal.
