A chief superintendent of police, Monday Agbonika, has named one General TK as the brain behind the daring attacks on two new generation banks along 4th Avenue in Festac Town in October 2015.
CSP Agbonika has assured Festac residents that the breach which occurred last year will not repeat itself as the command has put measures in place to ensure that there is never a repeat of such bank heist in Festac Town and Amuwo Odofin area.
Monday Agbonika, who also doubles as the divisional police officer (DPO) of the Festac police division told Naij.com in an interview on Thursday, May 5, that the said General TK also carried out another deadly bank robbery in Ogun state last year.

CSP Agbonika said that following the nefarious activities of the gang, the Lagos state police command partnered with their counterparts in Benin Republic along with other security agencies to stop the robbers.
The cross boarder partnership according to Agbonika led to the killing of General TK along with 11 of his men at the Seme border. The DPO said some of the robbers killed along with their leader were identified to have taken part in the bank raids in Festac and Ogun state last year.
When asked if there was a connection between those who engage in illegal crude oil bunkering operations and armed robbery, Agbonika answered on the affirmative, pointing that the notorious General TK who was killed in a shootout with the police was known to have participated in illegal crude oil bunkering operations.
On the possibility of such attacks reoccurring, the DPO assured Festac Town residents that the breach which occurred last year will not repeat itself as the command has learnt its lessons and has put measures in place to ensure that there is never a repeat of such bank heist in Festac Town and Amuwo Odofin area.

The DPO said among the measures put in place to prevent a repeat of such incident includes the monitoring of the water ways by the police marines. He said through community policing, the command had recruited informants among those living along the water ways and canals within Festac Town.
CSP Agbonika added that some of the settlers along the water ways have volunteered to join the volunteering policing sector in Amuwo Odofin area.
The DPO also sympathised with the family that lost a mother and her 14-month-old baby who were hit by the robbers’ stray bullets and died. He however reassured residents that a robbery like that cannot take place in Festca again as all loopholes have been tightened.
