Leicester Premier League title party: Claudio Ranieri lifts trophy after Jamie Vardy stars for champions vs Everton
Leicester City lifted the Premier League trophy in front of their ecstatic fans at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening to cap an extraordinary season.
Claudio Ranieri's side were 5,000/1 to win the title at the start of the season having narrowly avoided relegation last term, but won the title with two games to spare.
Leicester's success will go down as one of the greatest team achievements in sporting history, though the Foxes proved on Saturday that the trophy was well-earned.
Everton arrived at the King Power determined to put a dent in Leicester's title celebrations, but Ranieri's side blew away the Toffees in a breathless display of attacking prowess.
Ranieri stood alongside opera legend Andrea Bocelli for a stirring rendition of Nessun Dorma before the game, and Jamie Vardy scored the opener after just five minutes to put his side on their way to a win.
Andy King soon put the Foxes 2-0 ahead as the hosts went into the interval in a commanding position and prove Leicester's players hadn't celebrated their title to hard this week.
Vardy netted his second of the game - and 24th of the season - from the spot after the break as the rain poured down in Leicester, though the England international missed the chance to score a fairytale hat-trick as he skied another spot-kick son afterwards.
Everton scored a late consolation through Kevin Mirallas to make it 3-1, but nothing could dampen Leicester fans' spirits as they ironically cheered the late goal against them.
