Fuel subsidy removal: President, Reps won’t let Nigerians suffer
– Hon. Yakubu Dogara, the speaker of the House of Representatives, assured Nigerians that all the decisions taken by the government are for the good of the nation
– “We will never allow any measure to be embarked upon by the government that will further impoverish our people.”
The House of Representatives and President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will not support policies entailing further deterioration in quality of life of ordinary Nigerians and a fortiori won’t let them suffer — Leadership reports.

Hon. Yakubu Dogara, the speaker of the House of Representatives, made this statment while recieving a delegation from the National Council of Ulamas of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) led by its national chairman, Sheikh Nasir Abdulmuhyi, in Abuja on Thursday.
He said: “We are the House of the people, so we don’t judge. I do not want to come out with an opinion because I know that the matter, very soon, will come to the floor of the House of Representatives and as the presiding officer, I don’t want to give my opinion before that time. But one thing we can take home and assure our followers is that we will never allow any measure to be embarked upon by the government that will further impoverish our people.”

Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has released a statement explaining why the federal government had to increase price of petrol and introduce supply framework.
Earlier today there were reports on the imminent devaluation of the Nigerian currency, as the president has allegedly made concessions to the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and is ready to devalue naira.
