Gimpy Hunter Pence gets Giants, Johnny Cueto a walk-off win
Brandon Belt, Javier Lopez is going to demand payment for using his outfielder’s glove.
The Giants are winning with great pitching, a smattering of big hits and any piece of good fortune that lands at their feet.
Pence schlepped his gimpy leg to the plate with two outs in the ninth inning, hit a high fly to shallow right that looked like the third out, then got mobbed when Matt Kemp could not catch it and Belt raced home from first base for the win on the double.
Pence did not start for the third consecutive game because of a strained right hamstring.
[...] baseman Alexi Amarista had no chance.
Pence might have to start Tuesday because Angel Pagan reinjured his left hamstring running out a groundball in the eighth and had to depart.
With his outfield glove in deep storage, he had Lopez to run up to the clubhouse and grab the one he uses to shag during batting practice.
Cueto was in trouble once, with runners on the corners, two outs in the eighth and a 3-2 count on Yangervis Solarte.
Cueto threw a fastball that easily could have called ball four inside but Solarte took it for strike three.
