Emanuel says Chicago schools will open on time this fall

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says the partial budget passed by the Illinois Legislature will relieve financial pressures on the city's public schools and will allow them to open in the fall.

Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool said Thursday the state action "builds a foundation for cementing a long-term education funding solution."
