Tension is brewing in the camp of Nigerian security agencies as Sierra Leone’s deputy high commissioner to Nigeria, Major General Nelson Williams has been kidnapped in Kaduna state.

The action which is apparently an embarrassment to Nigerian security agencies, is coming on the heels of the frequent kidnapping in the North west state.
Three months ago, a top ranking officer in the Nigerian Army was kidnapped by some unknown gunmen in the state.
The officer was later found dead and the perpetrators arrested.

Around the same period, some church leaders in the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) were kidnapped in the state.
Like the kidnapped officer, one of the clerics was found dead with his body almost decomposing in the bush at the time his corpse was found.
The situation prompted the Kaduna state police command to constitute a special team of anti-kidnap squad to track and dislodge criminal gangs in the state.
Major General Williams abduction is an indictment on the police authorities in the state.
The diplomat was said to have been abducted earlier today, July 1, after he had gone to attend a military graduation ceremony.
Sources at the Sierra Leonian embassy, Abuja say the gunmen has contacted senior embassy officials and are demanding for $40 million.
