Gas tax, driver's license fee increase takes effect

SEATTLE (AP) — The cost of gas went up overnight as Washington state's new fuel tax went into effect.

KOMO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/29ckPTy ) that the gas tax increased 4.9 cents as of Friday as part of a nearly 10-cent boost in the tax over the next year. Another 4.9-cent increase takes effect next summer.

Other fees approved by lawmakers that went into effect at midnight include tolls on the 520 Bridge, driver's license fees and the electric vehicle renewal fee.___
