Among Nigerian army there are soldiers who are ready to sacrifice their lives to restore the peace in Nigeria.

Habu Sabo, one of the army officers fighting Boko Haram in the north-east, took to his Facebook page to say how proud he is to be a Nigerian soldier.

He writes: “I am a soldier, queen of the battle. For over five decades, I have kept my nation safe and united purchasing freedom with my blood. To the tyrant, I am the day of reckoning. To the oppressed, hope for the future. Where the fighting is heavy, there I am. I am proud to be a Nigeria soldier. God bless Nigeria a great nation.”

The brave Nigerian army soldiers fighting Boko Haram faced numerous dangers in their job.

When Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015, he pledged his government would end insurgency in the region and called on the international community to assist Nigeria and people in the Lake Chad region.

In December 2015, the president announced the fight against the insurgents had been “technically won”.
