Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger state on Monday, August 1, sacked the secretary to the state government, Alhaji Umar Danyaya, The Punch reports.
Danyaya was immediately replaced by Alhaji Ibrahim Isa Ladan, a former chairman of Borgu local government area in Niger state.
Although details of Danyaya’s sack are still very sketchy, sources say that he reported for work on Monday morning, before he was invited to the office of the governor for a meeting that lasted for 30 minutes.

Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger state on Monday, August 1, sacked the secretary to the state government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Danyaya.
According to the sources, it was after the meeting, Danyaya was sacked by Governor Bello.
Confirming the report, Jonathan Vatsa, the commissioner for Information and Culture, said the new SSG had ‘since been inaugurated’.

Vatsa also did not give any reason for the sacking of Danyaya but he said Bello had thanked the former SSG for his service to the state.
Danyaya’s emergence as SSG in 2015 had raised eyebrows in the state as many urged Governor Bello to withdraw his appointment.
They urged Bello to ensure equitable sharing of political positions among the three geo-political zones in the state.
