Finally: President Buhari says what he will do to Niger Delta (photos)
President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to stabilise the Niger Delta region following the unrest that has bedeviled Nigeria’s south-south.
According to Channels Television, President Buhari made this vow while addressing journalists after a meeting with Patrice Talon, the newly-elected president of Benin Republic in Abuja on Tuesday, August 2.

Buhari stated further that by providing the appropriate infrastructure in the region, even neighbouring countries like Benin Republic stand a chance of benefiting.
Reports say the pair discussed issues relating to security, trade relations and power at the presidential villa, Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital territory.

While thanking the Beninoise for coming to Nigeria, President Buhari also thanked the country for their contributions towards ending the menace of Boko Haram in the west African region and called for neighbouring countries to be abreast of information about restrictions on trade relations.

In his response, Talon said as a ‘big brother’, Nigeria is needed by the tiny west African country for stability, especially in the power sector.

According to the visiting president, Benin Republic needs Nigeria to tackle illicit trade relations between the two countries, while also urging Nigeria to take advantage of the fall in oil price to diversify its economy.

Meanwhile, Ijegun, a sprawling community in Alimosho, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, has set aside the sum of N5million in its attempt to forestall militants attacks, kidnap and rape in the area.
This was disclosed at a meeting held at the palace of Oba Nureni Akinremi, the Onijegun of Ijegun land and ttended by all the chairmen of community development associations in the domain.
