Giants manager Bruce Bochy hospitalized

MIAMI — Giants manager Bruce Bochy is expected to rejoin the team Tuesday after spending Monday night in a hospital for observation after he became ill in the morning.

Head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner accompanied Bochy to the University of Miami Hospital late Monday morning after Bochy called to report his symptoms.

“Hopefully, he’ll be able to tell you tomorrow,” said bench coach Ron Wotus, who managed Monday’s series opener against the Marlins.

Wotus is a seasoned big-league coach and minor-league manager who makes his own in-game decisions without covertly consulting Bochy, as some interim managers do after ejections.

Wotus said he planned to continue taking those calls or have assistant hitting coach Steve Decker do so.
