Former governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa has added his weight to the candidacy of Raymond Dokpesi, the chairman of Daar communications, as the next national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bafarawa gave his support when Dokpesi and his campaign team visited him in his home in Sokoto state.
In a statement by Omor Bazuaye, media aide to Raymond Dokpesi campaign organisation, Bafarawa by this action has joined forces with the likes of , Tanko Yakassai, an elder statesman and Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa state, to push for Dokpesi.
Receiving his visitors, Bafarawa disclosed that forces in the North West are strongly mobilized for Dokpesi, openly declaring his support for Dokpesi to clinch the coveted position.
He said Dokpesi’s campaign is not just for him; describing it as a movement aimed at correcting “errors” not just in PDP but in the entire body polity.

On Saturday, frontline politician and founding member of PDP, Tanko Yakassai endorsed Dokpesi’s candidacy; adding a boost to his chances of winning.
Dokpesi had earlier visited the immediate past Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido with both men meeting for several hours in his house in Kano.
He later addressed party supports before leaving for his next port of call in Zamfara State.
The political consultation and realignment continued all through Sunday night into the early hours of Monday morning with Dokpesi meeting with supporters of former Governor of Zamfara State, Mahmud Ali Shinkafi and receiving their endorsements.
Dokpesi said his visit to Zamfara has offered him opportunity to see for himself the level of disaffection within the party, which he said underscores why the party urgently needs to be reformed.
He said if given the mandate, he would make sure the Presidency remains in the North in 2019.

He promised to reconcile contending interest groups in the state and ensure the party is properly positioned for future victory in elections.
Dokpesi concluded his tour of Zamfara state, Dokpesi with a similar visit to the home of Senator Hassan Nasiha representing Zamfara Central constituency, before leaving for kaduna.
Dokpesi has been campaigning for the party chairmanship since Sunday, July 24.
