The party said it was a shame that Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC acting chairman under his watch allowed for the illegal arrest of the popular blogger in the presence of his young family, The Cable reports.

This was contained a statement by Adenike Lucas, on behalf of the party in the UK.
The statement read: “The EFCC recently released a statement saying, comrade Abu was arrested for Cyberstalking. Many see this as an attempt to clamp down on freedom of the press. This is not a dictatorial regime, why is Mr Magu arresting people because they published an article not favourable to him.
“Comrade Abu has been a key ally in publishing corruption allegation made by senior staff of the commission. The accusations made in the article I wrote which was published by Comrade Abu last week, should have been investigated but instead, Comrade Abu was arrested.”
Lucas said detailed investigations she conducted in the past few months showed how desperate Magu was in tarnishing the image of several of Buhari’s ministers because of his selfish determination to prevent his corrupt acts and that of his godfather, Gen. Babagana Monguno, the national security adviser who is currently on a trip to Chad with the president from being investigated.

Describing Sidiq’s arrest as a disgrace to the anti-graft agency, she demanded for a full explanation from Magu as to why he was arrested in the first place.
“I also want assurances that he will not be picked up again, neither will his family or friends and those speaking to me about this matter,” Lucas added.
The arrest of Abusidiqu, a known supporter of President Buhari, comes days after he exposed the massive retrenchment of workers in the anti-graft agency by the chairman of the EFCC. The report stated that Magu spearheaded the suspension of some dedicated staff of the commission that exposed the criminalities perpetuated by his predecessor, Ibrahim Lamorde.
Some are insinuating that he was picked up by EFCC operatives for reporting that the commission found out 1.5 billion buried in a farm land in Abuja.
Many have condemned his arrest, demanding that he be released immediately.
