Weekend Booking: Helen Caldicott

The menace of nuclear weapons has been largely left out of the public discourse of late, with the notable exception of Hillary Clinton upbraiding Donald Trump: “A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons.”

Helen Caldicott, the founding president of Physicians for Social Responsibility and the author of many books — among them “Crisis Without End” and “Nuclear Power Is Not the Answer” — will speak at the San Francisco Public Library at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13.
